What did your ceremony entail?

One of Paul's friends, Matt, was our officiant. He spent a lot of time with us as a couple to make sure he captured the feel that we were looking for in a ceremony. We did a traditional handfasting, and had some family do a few readings. Instead of having an "alter" with guests seated in rows, our family and bridal party were spread out in a circle all around us.

What were you most anxious, nervous, or concerned about regarding your wedding, and what was the outcome?

I think I was most worried about being a "super-spreader" event. I wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable with the precautions we were taking, but still able to have an enjoyable time.

What was your biggest wedding planning challenge, and how did you overcome it?

Getting married during COVID-19 certainly de-railed many of our initial plans. We went from a one hundred-person wedding to a small ceremony/reception of less than 20.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding planning?

We changed our minds...a lot. Some of our own volition, but mostly due to COVID. At one point, we were going to do it in our backyard. I'm really glad we decided against that. I think it would have added so much unneeded stress!

What advice would you like to impart to other couples planning their weddings?

JUST ENJOY THE DAY. You hear everyone say it: don't get caught up in all the details. They aren't important. And if you are really worried about something, delegate it to someone else - there are more people than just the two of you!

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

Getting to see everyone's smiles at the reception, sharing wondrous food and good stories.

What was your reception like?

The reception was very laid back. We didn't have a lot of the traditional "wedding reception" checklist items - no first dance, no father/daughter son/mother dances, no bouquet toss, so everyone was able to really relax and not worry about what was happening when. It gave us time to mingle (as much as we could trying to socially distance) with everyone...and actually EAT. The food was really delicious, prepared on-site at Meadowbrook.
